Former Big 10 player of the year, Tyrone Wheatley (#6), joins Syracuse

Former Michigan star RB Tyrone Wheatley made his way back to the college gridiron. He returns as the running backs coach for Doug Marrone’s depleted Syracuse squad (who just had a solid recruiting class). Wheatley brings much needed experience and know how for the Orange. As a 3 time All-Big Ten RB who played 10 years in the NFL for the Giants and the Raiders, he certainly has the background to teach RBs Delone Carter, Antwon Bailey and Averin Collier how to run and spin in the Big East.

Wheatley was not only a great back for the maize and blue, but he is a strong coach and fierce competitor. Most recently, he was the RBs coach for Eastern Michigan and prior to that he had coaching roles on the football and track teams for Ohio Northern.

Tyrone Wheatley is certainly a great addition to the coaching staff. Fans should have something to look forward to as there is no doubt Delone Carter will build off of his 1,021 yards last season with Wheatley under his wings.

Well played Coach Marone. We all look forward to seeing how the running backs respond to such a talented and gifted player.
