Hokies win is a loss for WR Roberts

Virginia Tech won a crucial ACC game Thursday night against Georgia Tech 28-21, but lost a big part of their offense and special teams. WR/KR Dyrell Roberts will miss the remainder of the season after suffering, what was initially thought to me minor, a bruised left leg during the first quarter of the game. Roberts tried to return to the field, but did not see any action in the second half. After the victory, Roberts developed excruciating pain in...

The man behind the Nittany Lion mask, dismissed

There are many true freshman making an impact on the gridiron for the Nittany Lions. However, one former true freshman is no longer welcomed on the Beaver Stadium sidelines. Nittany Lion mascot and gymnast Clint Gyory, the first true freshman to win the rights to be the Nittany Lion mascot, has been permanently relieved of his mascot duties and stripped from his scholarship. Gyroy’s issues first became public when he was issued citations in August 2010 for underage drinking, public drunkenness,...

Navy’s Ken Niumatalolo brings a high powered triple threat option that ranks 10th in rushing (258.6 yds/game) for the first time ever to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. WR Blackmon returns to action in Stillwater

Stillwater got a little relief today as potential coach of the year Mike Gundy announced WR Justin Blackmon is back on the field after serving a one game suspension for a pending DUI charge. Blackmon returns just in time as No. 19 Oklahoma State (7-1, 3-1) takes on No. 22 Baylor (7-2, 4-1) this Saturday with huge conference implications. The winner takes the lead in the race for first place in the division. In Blackmon’s absence, Oklahoma State struggled...

Vanderbilt’s RB Warren Norman out for 2010

Head coach Robbie Caldwell may have to update his resume after another disappointing loss in conference play. The Commodores now drop to 2-6 (1-4 in SEC play) after Arkansas took care of business this past weekend. To make matters worse, Caldwell will have to wrap up the rest of the season without his star running back Warren Norman. Norman dislocated his right wrist in the 2nd half of the teams 49-14 loss at Arkansas this past Saturday. Coach Caldwell will...

Vols’ Jacques Smith arrested for assault

The last Saturday in October proved to be a disappointment for the Tennessee Vols and for freshman DE Jacques Smith. After the Vols returned home from their frustrating 38-24 loss to the Gamecocks, some of the players decided to hit the town to forget about their 0-5 record in SEC play. As the Saturday festivities heated up on Cumberland Avenue, Smith and another student began jawing at the mouth about a certain lady friend. The conversation quickly escalated into...

ND’s Crist suffers season ending injury

Notre Dame was hit with another setback this season as word came out that QB Dayne Crist is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a ruptured patella tendon in his left knee. The gunslinger was injured in the first quarter of today’s game against Tulsa after scrambling for 29 yards on a broken play. Crist was knocked hard out of bounds by LB Tanner Antle and was clearly shaken by the helmet-to-helmet collision. Crist quickly grabbed his...

Pittsburgh (5-3, 3-0) remains undefeated in Big East play after an impressive 20-3 victory over the Louisville Cardinals (4-4, 1-2) this afternoon.
