Oklahoma State spends $16 million on practice facility

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are about to break ground on a new $16 million state-of-the-art indoor practice facility. The Cowboys were in much need of an indoor facility to keep up with its conference foes in terms of selling the program and facilities to recruits. Additionally, OSU has spent $3 million for the construction of three practice fields (one turf and two grass) and thanks to billionaire hedge-fund manager T. Boone Pickens, spent a whopping $100 million to upgrade...

Both players lost significant possessions of value to include Rainey’s 2008 National Championship ring, 10 pairs of Jenkins’ shoes, a Gucci duffel bag, a tv, and a PlayStation. Is Fickell the best choice for OSU?

There is no question Luke Fickell has a passion for Ohio State football, but as the program is in the aftermath of Jim Tressel and an ongoing NCAA investigation, did athletic director Gene Smith make the right decision in naming Fickell head coach? Ohio State has a tarnished reputation amidst the cash and tattoo scandal. In an opportunity to show the public that the university wants to change its image, the AD made a questionable move by hiring an...

Virginia Tech needs new donors

Since Frank Beamer took over the reins at Virginia Tech, he has brought nothing but success to the program. Regardless of whoever Tech hosted at Lane Stadium, fans came out in troves to see Beamer Ball. However, with the economy, lack of impressive wins, and no national championship, the donor base is apparently receding. This is most evident in season tickets sales. Donors are always first in line when it comes to season tickets, but for the 2011 season,...

Goshen College benches The Star-Spangled Banner

For fans gearing up to watch sporting events at Indiana’s Goshen College, they will no longer have to hear The Star-Spangled Banner. In fact, the board of directors agreed to no longer play the most patriotic of songs during any sporting event as its lyrics go against the school’s pacifist traditions. The board believes the song is inappropriate because it puts country over God and goes against the non-violent beliefs of the Mennonites. Prior to the ban, the college...

The Mountain West looks for a new image, goes boxy

Earlier today, the Mountain West Conference released a new logo and theme. Unfortunately, the logo and theme are about as unimaginative as the Conference’s new tagline “This is our Time” and nickname “The Rock.” The release, which was supposed to mark a new era for a Conference that has only been around for 13-years, is somewhat of a disappointment. The “This is or Time” tagline doesn’t really mean anything when the conference just lost BYU and Utah this year,...

Mitch Mustain, a true Renaissance Man, heads north

QB Mitch Mustain is finally getting his shot at professional football when he signed with the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The road to the pros was not an easy trek for the Springdale, Arkansas native who went from Arkansas’ starting QB to USC’s back-up. In 2006, Mustain briefly became a college football celebrity when the heralded freshman took over the reigns at Arkansas going 8-0 as a starter. The 2005 Gatorade National Player of the Year eventually...
