The Vols & Lane Kiffin are really pushing for a Heisman trophy out of DB Eric “The Fifth Dimension” Berry (5’11, 195 lbs.). In doing so, Tennessee launched its official campaign website. Talk about pressure… Last season, Berry amassed 7 INTS and 2 TDs. He is a strong leader on and off the field. SEC QBs, please beware of Berry.

UConn to help dedicate the Big House in 2010

As you know, Michigan’s Big House is still being renovated and should be completed by the 2010 season. There has been a lot of speculation as to who will help christen the renovated stadium. It looks like the rumor is out and UConn will get the nod. This will be a great Big 10 v. Big East match-up to open the biggest stadium in college football. Well done Wolverines and Huskies.

Fan Mail Regarding Penn State

Joe Paterno 383-126-3 Matador, love the site! Do you think PSU will win at least 10 games this season? A Fan Thank you for the question. Now I’m not saying PSU will go undefeated, but the team has the balance, depth, and senior leadership to repeat as Big 10 champs and possibly go 12-0 this season.  Most of the sports books have the over/under on PSU at 9.5 (I’m assuming this is why you are asking your question). Based on...

McMackin not a fan of the Irish dance

Hawaii’s head coach Greg McMackin needs to think before he speaks.  During yesterday’s WAC media day, McMackin relayed a story about last year’s crushing defeat in the Hawaii Bowl at the hands of the Fighting Irish.  During the pregame festivities, the Irish performed their traditional dance much to the delight of all the Notre Dame  fans that traveled to the Island. The dance apparently wasn’t up to McMackin’s standards as he referred to it as the “little faggot dance.”  Afterwards, the coach apologized, “It ticks me...

Broderick Green will play this Season

I’m not sure who Broderick Green knows, but he pulled off a miracle in transferring from USC to Arkansas without having to sit out a year. Back in November, he announced he was going to transfer to Arkansas to be closer to his ailing maternal grandmother. Generally, if you transfer from one D1 school to another, you have to sit out for one year. Green appealed to the NCAA to be exempt from this provision. Fortunately, the NCAA just...

He was quoted as saying, “I just need to get a better SAT score.” He will continue to be involved with the team as much as possible and will officially enroll in 2010. “Bacon” Suspended for 3 games after DUI

The Matador reported earlier this month that Boise State’s DT Michael “Bacon” Atkinson was picked-up for a DUI. At the time, there was no indication on how the school or team would handle the situation.  It is now being reported by the Idaho Statesman that Bacon will be suspended for a minimum of 3 games. Coach Chris Peterson commented on the suspension and said,  “He’s got some things to do along with being suspended,” Petersen said. “If he takes care of what he needs to take...
