The run game is getting weaker

The Michigan Wolverines are traveling to Iowa City for a huge game against the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Wolverines will be without their leading rusher as Carlos Brown is still recovering from a concussion suffered during Tuesday’s practice. Brown has not been listed on the team’s injury report, but sources close to the team confirmed his status. With Brown on the bench, Michigan’s Brandon Minor will have to fill his shoes. However, this will be a difficult...

Wilkes dies from gunshot wound

This just in from Hattiesburg. Southern Miss walk-on punter Peter Wilkes died today from an accidental shooting incident.  Yesterday, he was in his home town of Union City, Tennessee when the incident occurred. There are very few details on this, but we do know that Wilkes did not travel with the team to Louisville. That’s why he was able to go home for the weekend. Coach Larry Fedora says coaches and players are “shocked and devastated” over Wilkes’ death. Our thoughts and...

Blame Meyer for Tebow’s injury, no one else

Blame Meyer for Tebow’s injury, no one else

The entire Tim Tebow situation is appalling. The media is blowing this blame game way out of proportion as some are blaming the refs, the questionable hit, the coach, etc. The worst case of finger pointing I’ve seen to date is blaming the BCS for Tebow’s injury. When you look at the entire situation, there is only one person to blame, and that’s Coach Meyer. He is consumed by winning and consumed by winning with the son he never...

Sheffield gets 1st Collegiate Start

It’s official, Texas Tech’s Taylor Potts will not dress for this Saturday’s game against Kansas State. Potts is still recovering from a concussion he sustained during the first half of last week’s New Mexico game. Potts never made it back and missed the entire second half. Pegged to start under center will be QB Steven Sheffield. Sheffield never started a collegiate game, but he has mop-up duty experience. During the second half of the Lobos game, he threw for...

$partans win big over the Vandals

The Matador is back at par winning big last week bringing the season record to 2-2. Now to break out of the tie, I urge you all to stay away from the prime-time games– AVOID the Florida and Michigan games. Your money is better well spent on a game that draws little to no attention. This week’s lock is San Jose State over Idaho. Idaho may appear to be a better team with a better record and better statistics, but...

NEVADA (-10.5) 38 Louisiana Tech 24 Over/Under Total: 58.0 06:00 PM Pacific Time Friday, Oct-09 Nevada is now 17-3 ATS as a home favorite under coach Ault after destroying UNLV 63-28 last week while racking up 775 total yards at 10.8 yards per play. That was Nevada’s first win of the season, but the Wolf Pack are better than a 1-3 team and have been quite unlucky in being -8 in fumbles lost margin in just 4 games. After starting the season with...

AD may not be focused on football

If you are wondering why Marshall’s football team (3-2, defeats at the hands of Va Tech and East Carolina) isn’t doing so well, it could be the fact that the Athletic Director has his mind on other things. Mike Hamrick was hired back in July as Marshall’s AD. Since he was immediately leaving his AD post at UNLV, he advised the president that he needed temporary housing. Due to budget constraints, the president offered Hamrick residence on-campus in the South...

Gator’s O-line just shrunk

A top back-up in Florida’s offensive line rotation went down hard during Tuesday’s practice. It looks like OT Matt Patchan in done for the season after tearing his ACL during non-contract drills on Tuesday.   Patchan is no stranger to injuries as he suffered a leg injury late last season causing him to miss the last three games of the season. Patchan will obviously have surgery to repair the tear, but his football playing days remain questionable. Additionally, this will be...
