Peter Wilkes
This just in from Hattiesburg. Southern Miss walk-on punter Peter Wilkes died today from an accidental shooting incident. Yesterday, he was in his home town of Union City, Tennessee when the incident occurred.
There are very few details on this, but we do know that Wilkes did not travel with the team to Louisville. That’s why he was able to go home for the weekend. Coach Larry Fedora says coaches and players are “shocked and devastated” over Wilkes’ death.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Wilkes family.
