Making the Grade

Tulane (1-1) got one of its legs clipped yesterday as freshman kicker Cairo Santos has been declared ineligible pending an NCAA investigation. Santos’ high school transcript and ACT scores are at the heart of the inquiry. Cairo was a Brazilian exchange student who attended St. Joseph Academy in St. Augustine Florida. Apparently, his scores improved so much that it shocked the NCAA clearing house. Santos had an impressive 8 point jump in his ACT score from the first time...

We say good-bye to the 2010 Seniors

The last college football game of the season was played in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday. College football’s stars took to the field one final time in the Senior Bowl as the South’s Tim Tebow (Florida) aimed to silence his critics who claim that he does not have what it takes to succeed in the NFL. Unfortunately for Tebow and the South, the North squad came out of the gates swinging early and never looked back, winning 31-13. Originally, LSU wanted to play all the remaining games at Tiger Stadium, but Tulane wouldn’t agree to those terms. So instead of flexing its muscles on the field, LSU flexed its financial muscles off...

Swine Flu hits Tulane

It appears a dozen or so Tulane football players may have the H1N1 virus (more commonly known as the swine flu). The players are being told to stay in their apartment or dorm and the team will treat them there. Two players have already been tested positive. Since the effected players have minor like symptoms, they should bounce back and be on the field shortly as soon as they are cleared by the team’s physician, Greg Stewart.

Top 3 Punters

Football is all about ball control and field position. When a team is in a close battle, the punter is responsible for good field position. The punter must have a good relationship with the long snapper because he must receive the snap perfectly to allow for optimal time to punt and to achieve the desired angle or distance to push the receiving team as far back as possible. When it is fourth down and your team is in need...
