It looks like LSU and Tulane are going to severe ties for a measly $700,000.00 as reported by the Times-Picayune. In an attempt to beef up its schedule, LSU is paying Tulane $700,000.00 to forgo the final 6 games of a 10 game home-and-home series.
Originally, LSU wanted to play all the remaining games at Tiger Stadium, but Tulane wouldn’t agree to those terms. So instead of flexing its muscles on the field, LSU flexed its financial muscles off the field. This deal will actually prove to be fruitful for LSU as it now opens the doors to play in next season’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic against UNC. The paycheck for that game is going to be well over $700,000.
The series against Tulane will conclude on October 31st when Tulane comes into Tiger Stadium. Tulane’s paycheck for the game is $650,000.
