The 10 Most Embarrassing Moments In NCAA History

We all love to see the embarrassing “Not Top 10″ plays where a player, say, picks up a football and runs it into the wrong endzone. It’s lighthearted fun that no doubt leaves the player feeling a bit sheepish for a little while. But sometimes, sports programs find themselves embroiled in much deeper, much more disgraceful scenarios of their own design. These highly public embarrassments can ruin lives, cost schools thousands or millions of dollars, and leave the entire...

10 Modern Corruptors of College Sports

The utterance of the term “student-athlete” induces a chuckle from those who are familiar with what really drives the highest levels of college athletics — money. With so much at stake for the universities beyond just the publicity that comes with having a winning football or basketball program, the gatekeepers have conveniently snoozed on the corruption that has blatantly occurred over the last few decades. Some of the most notable manipulators of the system from the last 20 years...

Arkansas to protect student-athletes

The Arkansas government is in the process of enacting legislation that will make it a Class D felony for sports agents to entice student-athletes with money or other financial incentives. The Athlete Reform Act of 2011 (HR 1061) breezed through the House by a 89-0 margin. The Senate gave final approval and HR 1061 is expected to be signed by Governor Mike Beebe. The Act is designed to punish sports agents who flash cash in front of vulnerable student-athletes...

Moore deserving Heisman

The Heisman Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. If the voting were to take place today, there is no question Boise State QB Kellen Moore is the most deserving candidate. Moore is everything the trophy represents personally and statistically. He is having a monstrous junior year amassing 2,372 yards with 21 TDs leading the Broncos to an 8-0 record. He has remarkable accuracy only throwing 4 INTs in 226 attempts. Moore is a...

USC Removes Reggie Bush Jersey

The Trojans are doing everything possible to disassociate the program from their latest Heisman trophy winner who was primarily responsible for SC’s current sanctions. If you were at the Coliseum last night watching SC squeak past UVA, you would have seen that the #5 Bush jersey was removed from the peristyle steps prior to Lane Kiffin’s home opener. This was just the latest action by the school and AD to rid any memories of the great tailback. SC doesn’t...

Young not interested in Bush’s Heisman

With word spreading of Bush possibly being stripped of his 2005 Heisman Trophy and Coach Mack Brown advocating last week that the award should go to his former star QB, Vince Young’s mother is putting a stop to all the speculation. Felicia Young, an apparent PR rep for Vince, told Fox 26 in Houston that we don’t want it. “We’re not interested in having no honor and no glory out of somebody else they are trying to tear down, no,” Felicia...

Breaking News: Bush to return Heisman

Rumors are swirling that the Heisman Trophy Trust will strip Reggie Bush of the 2005 Heisman Trophy by the end of September. If this happens, Bush will be the first player ever to have the award taken away. The Trust has just concluded a three year investigation that led them to believe that the NCAA was correct in finding that Bush and USC were both in major violation of several NCAA rules. It is reported the Trust will not...

Bush-Whacked, Heisman trophy returned to sender

USC is doing the right thing by cleaning house of any evidence that reminds the football program it’s on probation. The first obvious move was to give the boot to AD Mike Garrett and his arrogant ways. But in a surprising fashion, USC removed Bush’s replica Heisman trophy from Heritage Hall and is going to return it to the Heisman committee. It still remains to be seen if Bush is required to return his Heisman. At this juncture, USC...
