USC Removes Reggie Bush Jersey

Bush is no longer featured on the famed peristyle steps of the Coliseum

The Trojans are doing everything possible to disassociate the program from their latest Heisman trophy winner who was primarily responsible for SC’s current sanctions. If you were at the Coliseum last night watching SC squeak past UVA, you would have seen that the #5 Bush jersey was removed from the peristyle steps prior to Lane Kiffin’s home opener. This was just the latest action by the school and AD to rid any memories of the great tailback.

SC doesn’t take the removal of jerseys lightly. Even with OJ Simpson’s legal troubles, his jersey is still featured on the peristyle steps. Other SC legends honored are Marcus Allen, Carson Palmer, and Charles White.

The removal of Bush’s jersey is part of the process to move on in the post-Reggie Bush era. Prior to the jersey removal, the university removed a copy of Bush’s Heisman trophy and jersey from famed Heritage Hall.
