Joe Paterno reached a historical milestone this evening by defeating Northwestern for his 408th career win tying the late legendary Grambling coach Eddie Robinson for total career victories. Penn State’s 34-24 win was in true Joe Paterno fashion who drew up a well balanced attack on offense and a suffocating run-stopping defense. The Matador will be watching the games this weekend with his brand new 50 inch plasma tv thanks to Tulsa. As predicted, Tulsa easily covered the spread against New Mexico. The Matador is 1-0 and wants to keep the streak alive. This Saturday’s lock is Northwestern (-3) over Syracuse. Northwestern comes to the Carrier Dome to face a winless Orange team. It seems as if Army and the Yankees are starting a new trend. ESPN reports that talks are underway between Northwestern and Illinois that would move their yearly game to Chicago’s Wrigley Field as early as next season.  Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald and Illinois’s Ron Zook are both optimistic and excited about the possibility of the change of venue.
