LB Moeller Undergoes Brain Surgery, May Not Play

Ohio State’s Tyler Moeller (Jr. 6’0, 216 lbs) was projected to start at linebacker with Storm Klein (Fr. 6’3, 225 lbs.) backing him up. However, Moeller may not see much playing time this season as he underwent brain surgery over the weekend. The surgery was successful and he is currently listed in fair condition. 2009 Jim Thorpe Award Watchlist

The Jim Thorpe Award was first given out in 1986 to Baylor defensive back Thomas Everett. The award is given to the nation’s best defensive back. Past Thorpe Award winners include Bennie Blades,  Deion Sanders, Charles Woodson, and  Terrance Newman. Last year’s winner was Ohio State’s Malcolm Jenkins. Ohio State University may be forced to include closed captioning of all in-game announcements and commentary on its jumbotrons and televisions in concession areas for all football and basketball games.
