According to the experts, Ohio State is the teamĀ to beat in the Big 10. There is a lot of hype around the Buckeyes and coach Jim Tressel this season.Ā When you look at this team, all of this season’s fate rests in the hands of sophomore Terrelle Pryor (So. 6’6 235 lbs.).
The question remains, can he do it? Pryor had a strong freshman year leading the Big 10 with a pass-efficiency rating of 151.3 in conference play and was 8-1 as a starter. However, Pryor had some help with NFL bound WR Brian Robiskie, WR Brian Hartline and RB Beanie Wells. Does Pryor have the ability to match last season’s success with WR DeVier Posey, WR Dane Sanzenbacher, and RB Dan Herron. All of the skill position players are athletic but have little game experience.
For Pryor to get it done, playmakers must emerge to take the pressure off of Pryor. Pryor must step it up in the big games. He had two key set backs last season against Penn State and Texas. Against Texas he went 5-13 for 66 yards with no TD reception. For Pryor to erase that scar, he must win and play well against USC and beat PSU for the Big 10 crown.
For all you Buckeye fans, if Pryor goes down, this team will be in trouble. Back-up QBĀ Joe Bauserman is not ready to lead this team.
