Life after Juice Williams is underway in Champaign, IL. 6’3, 195 lbs., redshirt freshman Nathan Scheelhaase was named the starting QB for the Fighting Illini for the 2010 football season and will make his debut when Illinois travels to St. Louis to play Missouri on September 4th. Scheelhaase redshirted in 2009 but head coach Ron Zook has full faith that he can run the offense. “Following spring ball, our coaching staff had some time to review the quarterback situation and...

Zook’s Champaign is running dry

Ron Zook is known for his ability to recruit the nation’s top talent such as Juice Williams and Arrelious Benn. However, his demise, as fans will proclaim, has always been his coaching and play calling. Well it looks like his recruiting finally caught up to his coaching. Zook is doing all he can to bring about some change to the team and spark a little fire. He has already benched QB Juice Williams for back-up Eddie McGee, but this move failed miserably as of late as evidenced in Illinois’ loss to Indiana 27-14 this past Saturday....

The Juice is being squeezed

Ron Zook is desperate to do anything to get back in the “W” column–especially after Penn State stomped the Illini into the ground on Saturday 35-17. His latest coaching foray is to bench starting QB Juice Williams. He announced this shocking news on his radio show earlier this morning. Zook’s replacement is Washington D.C. native senior Eddie McGee who will face-off this Saturday against Michigan State. At this point, the move may not be a bad idea. McGee just...
