Big Ten to Realign Again

When the Big Ten conference announced realignment plans for 2011, the new Legends and Leaders divisions were met with harsh criticism.  With the addition of Rutgers and Maryland in 2014, the conference is looking to realign again with the hopes of positive feedback from fans.  It is expected that the conference president and chancellors will approve new divisions and division names based on geography rather than competitive balance for the 2014 season.  Currently, the conference is broken down into the...

Jackson State University to Build $200 Million Domed Stadium

Jackson State University announced plans to build a $200 million state-of-the art domed football stadium.  The new domed stadium will seat 50,000 fans, well over the 24,000 fans the Tigers have been averaging in attendance as of late.    Funding for the project will come from public and private donors in addition to anticipated revenue (such as selling the naming rights). Head coach Rick Comegy is excited about the new stadium and believes the dome will give him a...

Maryland Terrapins Lose Another Signal Caller

The Maryland Terrapins just lost sophomore quarterback Devin Burns who announced his withdrawal from the school and his expectation of transferring to another program.  As of late, the QB position has been suspect for Maryland with the Terrapins losing five signal callers in 2012, four to injuries and one, QB Danny O’Brien, to transfer.  However, in 2013 Maryland will be deep at quarterback with stiff competition.  It is likely Burns’ withdrawal is a result of him presumably not going...

Gay Linebacker Kisses Older Man, Kicked Off Team

Freshman linebacker Jamie Kuntz, 18, was kicked off the North Dakota State College of Sciences football team for kissing a much-older man during a football game and then lying about it.  Coach Chuck Parsons was adamant that Kuntz was dismissed from the team for lying, not for being gay. On September 1, 2012, the Wildcats traveled to Pueblo, Colo. to face the Snow College Badgers.  Since Kuntz did not dress for the game and is recovering from a concussion, he...

The 10 Best High School Football Towns in America

They say football is king, and it’s not for nothing.
