The 2011 Rotary Lombardi Award finalists were named earlier this evening from a strong pool of 12 semi-finalists at a heavily attended announcement party at Houston’s Tasting Room Wine Bar. The four finalists are: LB Dont’a Hightower (Alabama) LB Courtney Upshaw (Alabama) OT Jonathan Martin (Stanford) LB Luke Kuechly (Boston College) The 42nd Rotary Lombardi awarded will be presented on December 7, 2011 during the award show at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.
The Rotary Club of Houston announced the 12 semifinalists for the 42nd annual Rotary Lombardi Award (RLA) awarded to the best college football lineman or linebacker. Alabama’s Courtney Upshaw has been court ordered to take anger management classes for a misdemeanor domestic violence and harassment charge. The charge stems from an incident this past August where both Upshaw and his girlfriend were arrested for an altercation that occurred in the parking lot of Alabama’s campus recreation center. The Crimson Tide’s Courtney Upshaw was known for harassing players on the field. He is a beast of a linebacker and knows how to tackle and is fighting for one of the coveted starting positions. Unfortunately, this quest is coming to a halt as The University of Alabama Police Department arrested Upshaw this morning for harassment and for domestic violence. He is being held on a $500 bond.
