From Miami’s opening TD drive to its aggressive defense, the Pittsburgh Panthers did not stand a chance of winning Thursday night’s game. The Hurricanes dominated on both sides of the ball trouncing the Panthers 31-3. Miami’s Jacory Harris wasn’t perfect as his tendency to throw interceptions haunted him again, but he did come out of Heinz Field the victor. Despite two picks, Harris was an impressive 21 of 32 for 2 TDs and 248 yards. Harris did give the ‘Canes a scare when he was visibly hurt after a devastating Panthers’ sack, but he returned to the game and didn’t miss a beat.
Pitt’s QB Tino Sunseri couldn’t get the Panther’s offense rolling going a paltry 8 for 15 for 61 yards. The Hurricanes’ quicker, deeper, and faster defense pressured Sunseri all night and the D-line shut down RB Dion Lewis holding him to a low 41 yards on 12 carries. Pitt’s lone bright spot was Dan Hutchins 27 yard field goal that prevented the shutout late in the 4th quarter.
For all the pundits who picked Pitt to win the Big East, you better think twice after tonight’s embarrassment to a former Big East member.
