Mono, not UNC, sidelines VaTech’s David Wilson

Virginia Tech will be without one of their offensive playmakers this Saturday as sophomore tailback and return man David Wilson is a scratch for the upcoming game against North Carolina. According to athletic trainer Mike Goforth, Wilson was experiencing virus like symptoms all week which was ultimately diagnosed as Mononucleosis. This is a huge blow for the rebounding Hokies in a key Coastal match-up against the Tar Heels. The resurging Hokies will certainly miss Wilson’s 28.6 yards/kick-off return average...

UNC’s Moral Victory

Before No.18 North Carolina boarded the team plane for Atlanta to play No. 21 LSU, critics nationwide had written the Tar Heels off. Pundits from San Diego to South Beach declared that UNC didn’t stand a chance given the 13 suspensions handed down late last week amidst accusations of cheating and an illegal agent benefit scandal. The Tar Heels headed into Saturday night’s Kick-Off Classic missing the heart and soul of their football team. Starting defensive tackle Marvin Austin,...

The Riverboat Gambler’s Final Hand

Three years removed from winning his first and only BCS National Championship, LSU skipper Les Miles could be entering his last season as head coach of the Tigers. The junior was 7th in rushing in the ACC averaging 63.0 yard/game. He was the team leader in rushing amassing 567 yards on 124 carries in nine games. In his place, RB Ryan Houston will...

UConn down a starting QB

UConn’s woes continue. Not only did the team suffer a loss against Rutgers on Saturday, but starting QB Cody Endres suffered a season ending shoulder injury in the first quarter similar to that of Sam Bradford’s. Endres had surgery this morning to repair his damaged shoulder and will shortly begin his road to recovery. Now that Endres is out, it looks like QB Zach Frazer, who lost the starting job when he suffered a knee injury earlier in the...

The Matador’s Muse

As we kick-off the college football season this Saturday, The Matador wants to highlight what’s going on around the college football Nation. Keep an eye on Georgia’s QB Cox as he is suffering from flu like symptoms and traveled separately from the team, but is still probable to start. VaTech’s Beamer announced that redshirt freshman Ryan Williams will start at tailback when the No. 7 Hokies play No. 5 Alabama. Oregon RB Blount is out for the remainder of his...
