Dooley reinstates suspended Vols

Greg King and Marlon Walls will join their teammates when Tennessee opens fall practice this Wednesday in Knoxville. King, a linebacker from Memphis, and Walls, a defensive tackle from Olive Branch, Mississippi, were suspended from the team following a bar brawl last month that left an undercover police officer injured. Head coach Derrick Dooley reinstated the two saying that they showed regret and were contrite in their apologies throughout the investigation process.

Tennessee has been under a lot of scrutiny this off-season due to the amount of arrests of football players this summer. However, Dooley is making it his mission to clean house and rid the team off the dead weight brought in by former UT coach Lane Kiffin.

The Vols are heading into their first season under the Dooley regime and are looking to return to SEC East relevance. However, Dooley’s task at hand is going to be a difficult one. The Vols host Oregon (Sept. 11), Florida (Sept. 18), and Alabama (Oct. 23), and travel to LSU (Oct. 2), Georgia ( Oct. 9), and South Carolina (Oct. 30). With a schedule this non favorable, a six win season for the Vols will be considered a success.
