Unfortunately, it looks like N.C. State LB Nate Irving (6’1, 235 lbs) could miss the entire season after suffering a broken leg and collapsed lung in a June 28 car accident. Irving’s exact status is still not know yet and he has a follow-up appointment with his doctors in August.
Coach Tom O’Brien stated if doctors clear Irving to return this season, he will be allowed to play because he already has used a redshirt year. “This is a medical decision,” O’Brien said. “I have nothing to do with this. Once the doctors tell us he’s cleared to go, if we’re still playing football, he will play.”Irving was the team leader in interceptions (4) last season and made 84 tackles despite missing a third of the season with injuries.
Here at The Matador, we wish Irving a full and speedy recovery.
