When the gauntlet fell on Troy, there was concern regarding player defection. Now it seems no one is safe. The L.A. Times is reporting that USC’s running backs coach Todd McNair is “no longer part of the staff.” McNair has been a staple on the USC sidelines as the running backs coach for the last six seasons. He played an integral part in USC’s sanctions and was ultimately forbidden by the NCAA and the university from contacting recruits going forward.
Rather than stating he was fired or retired, Coach Kiffin simply said, “Todd McNair’s contract expired on June 30, 2010.” USC did not issue any other statement and coach McNair has yet to speak publicly about his contract expiration.
Based on the limited facts available, it appears USC has found their scapegoat.
