Marcus Davis resurfaces at Oregon (Photo courtesy of Life Magazine)

One team’s burden is another team’s treasure. Former Texas DB Marcus Davis has enrolled in classes at the University of Oregon and will more than likely be playing for the Ducks in 2011. Davis was suspended after being charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated in November of last year. He was never able to get back into the good graces of Texas coach Mack Brown and decided to transfer and take his chances elsewhere.

Don’t look now, but the Oregon football program is slowly but surely starting to resmble the Miami Hurricanes circa 1992. With a plethora of Oregon players having been either suspended or dismissed this off-season, it’s a little surprising to see Oregon take a chance on Davis.  Duck head coach Chip Kelly is already starting to feel the pressure from alumni and school officials who want a cleaner image of the program off the field. Everyone deserves second chances, let’s just hope Davis makes good on his new start at Oregon and doesn’t end up like the other disgraced Ducks that have been sent packing.
