Some good news is coming out of West Lafayette, Indiana, as Purdue reinstated QB Justin Siller after serving a one year suspension for academic violations. With the QB competition between Robert Marve and Caleb TerBush heating up, you can bet Siller will return to the team as either a wide receiver or running back.
Siller has two years of eligibility remaining and should be a good fit for Danny Hope’s offense. (check out your latest NCAA football odds). Siller returns to the team with game experience as he won his first QB start in 2008 against Michigan leading the Boilermakers to a 48-42 win. He was supposed to compete against 5th year senior Joey Elliott in 2009, but his academic failures ended the QB competition. With Siller’s return, he will not be playing QB, at least for now.
It’s good to see that Purdue values academics first and puts grades in front of sports. There are some other schools out there that should really take note, because in the end, academics is the most important part of a student’s college experience. Here at The Matador we want to wish the best of luck to Siller on his return.
