Belichick and Tebow Break Bread

Could Tebow join Belichick and Brady in Boston?

It’s no surprise to college football and NFL followers alike that New England head coach Bill Belichick is a fan of Tim Tebow. Belichick has been a long time friend of Gator head coach Urban Meyer and their relationship goes beyond just the football field. Belichick has spoken very highly about Tebow and even gave him a glowing endorsement at  league meetings last week. “He’s had a great career. There are a lot of positives. I’m sure he’s going to help a team,” Belichick said. “I think he performed very well in the offense he was in. I think he was outstanding. He’s already spent, I think, six weeks, or whatever it’s been, working on some other things and I think you can see the results of that working. He’s worked hard and made some changes, you can see those changes. I think he’ll continue to work hard.”

Tebow, Belichick, and Nick Caserio (New England director of player personnel) all dined together at Boston’s Tresca restaurant on Monday night. While this practice isn’t uncommon with the NFL draft quickly approaching, Tebow to the Patriots isn’t such a far fetched idea. Tom Brady still has quite a few more playing years left in the NFL but bringing in a suitable replacement for him that would be able to sit on the bench and learn from a future hall of famer would be the ideal situation for Tebow for long term success. Even though he won the coveted Heisman Trophy award and two BCS national championship rings at UF, skepticism remains about his ability to become a pro quarterback.

Tebow’s draft stock has risen since unveiling his new throwing motion at Florida’s Pro Day two weeks ago. He will be heading to Washington next week to meet and hold a private workout with the Redskins.
