South Florida won what should be the last International Bowl ever

Not that this should come to a surprise to college football fans, but the International Bowl committee has decided to end the chapter in another meaningless bowl.  Since the committee failed to renew its contract with the Big East, it decided to close the doors.

If you don’t remember who played in last year’s International Bowl, you aren’t alone, as the bowl drew its lowest attendance since its inception when South Florida cruised past Northern Illinois 27-3. I hope the 22,000 faithful (the announced attendance, but in reality about half were there) who watched this thrilling game kept their ticket stubs because the stubs will certainly be a memento for a select group of memorabilia collectors.

As for the Big East, the conference decided to contract with the new Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium due to the market and its close proximity to the conference’s schools. The president of the International Bowl, Don Loding, says he will not give up hope and he plans to possibly bring back the bowl in a future date as Canada is an exciting venue for the college football postseason.

Mr. Loding, as I speak on behalf of all fans, I beg that you don’t resurrect the International Bowl.
