Two fans fight over the Big XII Championship game, Marine dies

At the end of the day, college football is just a game. Now I am as passionate a fan as the next guy, but sometimes fans take their passion a bit too far for no other reason but to brag presumably for a team they didn’t even play for. The most recent nonsensical act of violence occurred after the Texas-Nebraska game at a home in North Carolina.

During the epic Big 12 championship game, two friends got into a heated argument over the outcome. A scuffle ensued between the friends and as a result 21 year old Clinton Rodriguez was shot by 23 year old Lionel Loya. As the two were fighting and wrestling, Loya’s gun accidentally went off and hit Rodriguez causing his death.

Rodriguez’ senseless death landed Loya in jail and he is now being charged with involuntary manslaughter. The irony, if there is any, is Loya and Rodriguez were both Marines fighting a much bigger fight, but now Loya will never wear a uniform again, at least not a military uniform, because of this idiotic and regretful act of violence.
