It’s time to pass the torch

The games has passed Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden

Florida State is 0-2 in the ACC for the first time ever and now all eyes are on Coach Bobby Bowden. The most notable is Jim Smith, the chair of the university’s Board of Trustees. Smith spoke out openly saying its time for the Bowden Era to end.

“My hope is frankly that we’ll go ahead, and if we have to, let the world know that this year will be the end of the Bowden Era,” said Smith, who has served as Secretary of State, Chief of Staff in the Governor’s Office and State Attorney General. “… I do appreciate what he’s done for us, what he’s done for the program, what’s he done really for the state of Florida.”

For the Seminole Nation, this is nothing new. Bowden has driven the Seminoles to the promised land, but since his strong run in the 90’s he has taken this program to a straight decline. For the past 8 seasons, Florida State hasn’t made any great strides and Bowden is to blame.

Bowden did comment that he knows the state of the program and will make his decision openly after the season’s end. At this point, and based on the Seminole’s performance, it’s safe to assume Jimbo Fisher will be the head coach come next season whether Bowden agrees to it or not.
