Groh better get a win soon or he will be out
This summer, The Matador polled its fan base regarding which D-1 coach would be the first to go. The fans overwhelmingly picked Cheeseburger Charlie. However, it looks like coach Al Groh‘s stock just shot straight to the top. In the Cavalier’s season opener against D 1-AA William & Mary, Groh’s team had an amazing 5 fumbles (4 were lost) in a 14-26 lack luster performance.
Groh’s 5-7 record last season was bad, but to lose to a lower-tier program is not doing anything to help his image. The Cavalier’s showed no signs of discipline and QB Jameel Sewell’s lowly 9 completions and 3 interceptions just doesn’t sit well with the AD.
On commenting on the game, Groh stated, “There will be a lot of negativity out there, some of it well deserved.” And as such, as the game clock expired, the tie and jacket crowd chanted “Groh Must Go!” Clearly, the fans are not happy with their teams performance.
