The Crimson Tide’s depth chart at RB took a hit this week. Sophomore RB Jeramie Griffin tore his ACL during a Tuesday night practice on turf. The team was practicing in its brand new in-door facility with new turf. The injury occured during non-contact drills.
He is expected to have season ending surgery in the near future and he already red-shirted in 2007, so there are questions on how the Tide is going to play this.
Last season, Griffin saw limited action and played in only 2 games. This year he was penciled in to back RBs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.
The Tide need to avoid the injury bug as they have a huge opening day game against Virginia Tech on September 5th.
