Florida WR Riley Cooper is returning to the Gators for his senior season. The 6’3, 206 lb. wideout and roomate of Tim Tebow was drafted by the Texas Rangers in this year’s MLB draft. He contemplated leaving Florida early to pursue a career in baseball.“It was a tough decision, one of the hardest I’ve ever had to make, but I’m excited about being part of the Texas Ranger organization and coming back and playing football for my final season,” Cooper said. “More importantly, I’m looking forward to being around my Florida teammates and our Gator coaching staff.”We have something special going on in Gainesville, and I want to be a part of that.”
Cooper played a significant role as a possession receiver in Florida’s offense last year in which he started 12 games, compiling 261 yards receiving for 3 TDs. In addition to having a sure set of hands, Cooper runs a 4.4 40. He will be used in numerous capacities this season and will be one of Tebow’s main targets. The news of Cooper’s return will comfort many fans of the Gator Nation as he brings depth and experience to a young receiving corp that will be looking to replace the void left by the departure of all-everything athlete Percy Harvin.
