Shonn Greene (#23) 2008 Doak Winner

The Doak Walker Award watch list was just released this afternoon. It is even more absurd than the O’Brien award as 45 running backs are featured on this list. Again, there seems to be a lack of prestige and/or seriousness to be on the watch list when pretty much any back with two feet gets named.

The Doak is named after SMU and Detroit Lions football player Doak Walker. It was first awarded in 1990 to Washington’s Greg Lewis. Last season, Iowa’s Shonn Greene ran away with the award. To receive this accolade, which recognizes the nation’s top college football running back, you must be the best back in the nation, but also be in good academic standing, and on schedule to graduate within one year of their eligibility classification.

So out of this list, who do think should take it?
