Boise State’s PR Ploy

From the Playoff PAC: Last week, the sporting world received word that the Western Athletic Conference (“WAC”) has retained a public relations firm to help its soon-to-be conference champion, the Boise State Broncos, secure a BCS berth. Some responded by scolding the WAC. Folks can criticize the WAC all they want. It’s their right. But no one can credibly accuse the WAC of spending its conference funds frivolously. Boise State has taken care of business on the field. They’ve had close games with...

TE Rudolph out for the regular season

It’s not getting any easier for Notre Dame as TE Kyle Rudolph is reported to be out for the Irish’s final three games as a result of suffering a shoulder injury during the loss to Navy. This is a big hit for the offense because of Rudolph’s pass protection ability and his great hands. He is Clausen’s go-to guy and it shows as Rudolph is the second leading receiver on the team with 33 receptions and 3 TDs. The Irish are...

Pike not there yet, Collaros to start

The Bearcats are continuing their dream season this Friday as they face-off against a well balanced West Virginia team. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, they will have to huddle around QB Zach Collaros as Tony Pike is still not there yet in terms of recovering from his forearm injury. Even though Pike has already missed the last 3 games, the Bearcats are still finding ways to win. Most recently, they were able to hold-off Connecticut in a shoot-out 47-45.

Tomahawk Nation ready to throw the Axe?

The Matador is saying it now, Bobby Bowden will not be the head coach of Florida State come next season. Not only are the Seminoles 4-5 and face their first losing season in over 30 years, but now the starting QB Christian Ponder is out for the rest of the season with a separated right shoulder. Ponder’s injury was a result of him making a tackle during the 4th quarter of the Clemson game, which Florida State lost 40-24. Florida Sate faces...

We’ve got to help this football program… or do away with it

November 9, 2009

Holding a press conference after you get fired is pretty risky these days. After Tigers head coach Tommy West was fired, West took the podium, starting off by saying “This is not a good day at the office,” then continued with an impassioned plea for support for the Tigers football program–“We’ve got to help this football program… or do away with it.” Apparently, he thinks Memphis should get rid of their football program because the school fails to properly support...

Blount is back

This may come to you as a shock, but the Pac-10 commissioner, Larry Scott, has just approved the request to reinstate Oregon’s LeGarrette Blount. After an immediate suspension following the Boise State punch heard around the (college football) world, Scott believes Blount has paid dearly for his actions and is now cleared to play to salvage any hopes of entering the NFL. I am “convinced LeGarrette Blount paid a significant and appropriate price for the mistakes he made on the...

Cal’s Best Heisman hope is out

Cal got a huge scare this weekend after RB Jahvid Best was knocked unconscious after his signature high-flying leap into the end zone against Oregon State. This is his second straight concussion after he suffered a mild concussion the previous week against Arizona State. After his leap, the junior was taken to an Oakland area hospital where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion, but fortunately CT scans and x-rays came back normal. Though he left the hospital within 24 hours, he will be sidelined...
