Folks in Missoula can breathe easy as the University of Montana is reporting former cornerback Jimmy Wilson was granted one more year of athletic eligibility. What makes this newsworthy is Wilson was formerly a guest of the California state pen for murder charges in conjunction with the June 2007 shooting death of his aunt’s boyfriend, Kevin Smoot. A third Hawkeye football player was arrested for an alcohol related incident since the start of summer. Iowa’s Broderick Binns was arrested early Friday morning and charged with drinking and driving after being pulled over at the intersection of Benton Street and Greenwood Drive in Iowa City. It’s a somber day for the Oklahoma Sooners as legendary linebacker Daryl “Moose” Hunt passed away on Friday of an apparent heart attack. He was a hard hitting linebacker who showed his greatness early on which helped him cross the racial barrier in west Texas.
