A Bold New Day for Penn State

As fall weather came upon Happy Valley this Saturday there was doubt as to who would lead the Nittany Lions under center come kick-off time. True freshman Robert Bolden, a name unknown until 3 days ago, surprisingly got the nod from coach Joe Paterno. Seeing how Penn State slaughtered the Penguins 44-14, it appears the ole ball coach knew exactly what he was doing. The Nittany Lions were slow out of the gate, but when the second half kicked-off...

Warrant issued for another Bulldog

As Georgia is set to kick-off the season, the University got a little surprise from big brother. The University of Georgia Police issued a warrant for the arrest of UGA safety Alex Ogletree. The warrant stems from a theft by taking charge. As the facts are coming in, all that is known is Ogletree’s fingerprints are all over the theft of a $35 helmet stolen from the Rankin Smith Center back in June. Ogletree was a heavily recruited safety...

Mine your own business

It looks like the Backyard Brawl is feeling some heat, but not from your typical fans. Mining activists in a furious manner reached out to West Virginia to pull the new Nike Pro Combat uniform ads that showcase a mountaintop mine in the background. The uniform was designed to honor and remember the 29 miners killed earlier this year at the Upper Big Branch mine. Activists are claiming the image in the background, not the actual uniform, sends the...

JoePa taps freshman QB to start

Either freshman QB Robert Bolden is that good or everyone else under center in Happy Valley is just that bad. Coach Joe Paterno is doing something he has never done in Penn State history-starting a freshman QB to open the season. Paterno admitted any of the three QBs could have started, but Bolden had a slight edge over walk-on Matt McGloin and Kevin Newsome. McGloin is more of a one dimensional QB with a strong arm. Newsome has a strong...

Houston WR Patrick Edwards sues Marshall à la cart

Houston WR Patrick Edwards is doing what every American does when things turn south, file a lawsuit. The WR filed a civil suit against Marshall, Conference USA, and the game day referee for maintaining an unsafe playing field during their 2008 match-up. During the 3rd quarter, Edwards was running full speed going for a long pass from QB Blake Joseph when all of a sudden CRASH. The freshman stud ran right into a metal service cart that was improperly...
