Star USF Kicker falls from Ride.

This past weekend, South Florida kicker Maikon Bonani fractured his T12 vertebra and is listed in fair condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Bonani, who was working as a Skyride gondola attendant at the Tampa Busch Gardens, injured himself while checking to see if a gondola door was locked as it proceeded off of the station. He hung on to the door and eventually let go falling 35 feet above the ground. Bonani should be applauded for doing his job by making...

Sooners’ All Offense Convict Team

OU has a long tradition of producing winning teams and top NFL prospects. The Sooners have 7 claimed national titles, 42 conference crowns, and 5 Heisman winners. When you think Oklahoma Sooners, you think success. However, a scar in this tradition-rich program is the player’s history of criminal behavior. Just recently, Justin Chaisson was charged with assaulting his 17 year old girlfriend with a screwdriver, coercing by force, assaulting with a deadly weapon, coercing with a deadly weapon and...

Top 3 Punters

Football is all about ball control and field position. When a team is in a close battle, the punter is responsible for good field position. The punter must have a good relationship with the long snapper because he must receive the snap perfectly to allow for optimal time to punt and to achieve the desired angle or distance to push the receiving team as far back as possible. When it is fourth down and your team is in need...

2010 BCS National Championship Game

The favored to win the 2010 BCS National Championship Game is Florida at 2/1. It’s a solid bet, but other teams to consider are: Texas (8/1): The Longhorns will have a potent offense and will simply win by outscoring their opponents. To be a solid contender, the defense must step up their play and pray opposing offenses have bad days.

Contract Extension for Zook

Illinois is contemplating on whether or not to extend Ron Zook’s contract for an additional year (Zook has a 19-30 record at Illinois). This would leave Zook at the healm through 2014. The  president of the University, Joseph White, has recommended the approval of the extension. The board of trustees, who meet next Thursday, will likely follow White’s recommendation and approve the extension. If approved, this will be Zook’s second extension. Not bad for a coach who makes $1,505,000.00...

2009 College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement

Congratulations to Lou Holtz  and company as the 2009 class will be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame this Saturday. Holtz established himself asone of the most successful college football coaches of all time. The Big East

Some say the Big East may not have a national champion contender or even a top 10 contender, but regardless, this will be an exciting year for the conference. From top to bottom, this is one of the most even BCS conferences which will make for exciting match-ups. Since there is not one dominant team in the Big East, several teams have a legitimate shot to win the conference and the automatic BCS berth. After previewing the teams and...

The Pac-10

The Matador dislikes when the Pac 10 is called the Pac 9 plus USC. The Pac 10 is a special conference in that they actually play everyone in their conference (unlike most of the other major conferences--I know what you are thinking Big East). However, the only true contender in the Pac-10 is the perennial powerhouse, USC. Here are the other teams that have an outside shot of winning the Pac 10. Cal would be my favorite if they had...
