This past weekend, South Florida kicker Maikon Bonani fractured his T12 vertebra and is listed in fair condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Bonani, who was working as a Skyride gondola attendant at the Tampa Busch Gardens, injured himself while checking to see if a gondola door was locked as it proceeded off of the station. He hung on to the door and eventually let go falling 35 feet above the ground.
Bonani should be applauded for doing his job by making sure the ride was safe. We all hope for a speedy and full recovery. We wish him well over at team Matador.
As for his football career, unfortunately, with this type of injury, Bonani may miss this upcoming season. He has the opportunity to redshirt and could come back strong in 2010.
