OU has a long tradition of producing winning teams and top NFL prospects. The Sooners have 7 claimed national titles, 42 conference crowns, and 5 Heisman winners. When you think Oklahoma Sooners, you think success. However, a scar in this tradition-rich program is the player’s history of criminal behavior. Just recently, Justin Chaisson was charged with assaulting his 17 year old girlfriend with a screwdriver, coercing by force, assaulting with a deadly weapon, coercing with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment to avoid arrest, and Keenan Clayton was arrested for outstanding charges and failure to produce insurance verification. It’s tragic to see these young kids with so much talent waste it away. It seems like donning a Sooners uniform is a one-way ticket to jail. Looking back at the Sooners’ past and present, The Matador is here to provide you with the Sooners’ All Offense Convict Team:

QB Charles Thompson: On January 26, 1989, the FBI videotaped Thompson selling 17 grams of cocaine for $1,400 to an undercover agent. On February 13, Thompson was arrested in Norman, Oklahoma and charged with dealing cocaine.

RB Billy Sims: In September 2003, Sims was arrested and eventually released on a child support warrant.

WR Lance Rentzel: In 1970, Rentzel was arrested for exposing himself to a ten-year-old. Four years earlier he had a similar incident at a playground, but was charged with disorderly conduct in exchange for promising to undergo psychiatric treatment

WR Josh Jarboe: In March 2008, the Oklahoma recruit who was No. 13 on the ESPN 150 list of top high school players last season, was booked into the DeKalb County (Ga.) jail, accused of receiving stolen property and having a weapon on school property. Jarboe was dismissed from the team after his obscene Youtube rap.

WR Ryan Broyles: In 2007, Oklahoma freshman football player Ryan Broyles was suspended from the team indefinitely after his arrest earlier in the day for allegedly attempting to steal gasoline from a convenience store pump.

Lineman Nigel Clay: Clay and Bernard Hall were charged with first-degree rape in Cleveland County District Court. Clay and Hall were also charged with two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. Bothe were dismissed from the football program and placed on a two-year academic suspension by the university. Both received ten years in prison.

Guard Greg Roberts: Roberts, the 1978 Outland Trophy winner, was busted for running a cocaine trafficking ring in Tampa in the 80’s. He was also a participant in an alleged gang rape.

Guard JD Quinn: Quinn was dismissed by the Sooners in August 2006 after breaking NCAA rules by taking money for work he didn’t perform at a Norman, Okla., car dealership.

Lineman Brandon Walker: In July 2009, former Oklahoma offensive lineman Brandon Walker was arrested on a complaint of domestic assault and battery in front of a minor. This was his third arrest since July 2009.

Tackle Phil Loadholt: In June 2008, Oklahoma senior starting left tackle Phil Loadholt was arrested along Interstate 35 on suspicion of driving under the influence and for allegedly transporting an open container.

TE Bernard Hall: See Nigel Clay.

Coach-Barry Switzer: In 1997, Barry Switzer was arrested after a loaded .38-caliber revolver was found in his carry-on baggage at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

So there it is, your Sooners’ All Offense Convict Team.
