If you happened to watch the trifecta of boring college football bowl games yesterday, thankfully there was one highlight that made it all worth it. During the New Orleans bowl, Troy put on a 48-21 clinic over Ohio scoring on their first 5 possessions. It wasn’t until late in the game that Troy was forced to punt. In a highly anticipated match-up this weekend (hahahaha), Florida’s Urban Meyer has listed LB Dustin Doe and CB Janoris Jenkins as eligible to play in Saturday’s game against Troy. As you recall, Doe (arrested for driving on a suspended license) and Jenkins (resisting arrest) both sat out during the home opener due to off-the-field incidents. Troy defensive back Jorrick Calvin has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2009 football season. Calvin was a solid and consistent contributor on last season’s Sun Belt conference championship team. The senior JUCO transfer accumulated 76 tackles and scored two touchdowns on special teams. He also intercepted two passes, recovered three fumbles, and had nine pass break-ups. The loss of his presence on defense will definitely be felt.   Unless Calvin is able to win an unlikely appeal, he will be watching Troy’s games from a distance.
