Aggies President wants Longhorns

Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin recently told the San Antonio Express-News that he still wants the Aggies to play the Texas Longhorns.  In fact, he threw down the gauntlet challenging Texas, “anytime, anywhere.”  However, Loftin was a key factor in moving the Aggies from the Big XII to the SEC all but ensuring an end to the 118-year old historic rivalry. As it stands, Texas is nowhere to be found in A&M’s future schedules but the Aggies do...

Who Could Sneak into the Title Game?

By now, every college sports fan on the planet has heard a great deal about the few teams at the top of the race for a BCS Championship. Put simply, Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State are overwhelming favorites to compete for the title, with LSU on the fringe of that group and seemingly everyone else lagging behind. Unfortunately, college football is not a sport that tends to lend itself to big surprises in rankings or outcomes – but nonetheless,...

Prepare for a fall of Johnny Manziel NFL Talk

Reigning Heisman Trophy Award winner Johnny Manziel faces a lot of pressure heading into 2013. Texas A&M has their eyes set on making a National Championship run, and anything short of another Heisman campaign from Manziel would be considered a disappointment. However, a lot of talk surrounding the redshirt sophomore will be his transition from college to the pros. It is widely speculated that, given he has a healthy and productive 2013 season, Manziel will declare for the NFL...

NCAA Football Quarterbacks to Watch This Year

What a year this promises to be in the NCAA it’s left me pondering the NCAA rankings and my thoughts on wagering. When composing this piece about the best quarterbacks who will grace our college football fields this year, I continually changed my mind. I had a look at the wageronsports.com website to see what the site recommend, but I was still unsure as to who would come out top dog. I finally settled on three quarterbacks who I...

Texas A&M fans deface UT campus

In the eyes of the Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M cannot leave the conference soon enough as UT fans are tired of Texas A&M’s immature and idiotic antics. This time, according to The Daily Texan, unidentified vandals decided to spray-paint various locations on UT’s campus late Friday night. Being it was family weekend, students, parents, and guests, woke up to slogans like “MUNgLoaf Was here” and “Gig em Aggies” spray-painted on walkways and campus buildings. UT police were quickly able...

10 football programs that could benefit from conference realignment

The impending move of Texas A&M to the SEC ushers the captivating conference expansion saga into its second year. With the Pac 10 now the Pac 12, the Big 10 now a 12-team league and the Big 12 now a ten-team (soon to be nine-team) league, it’s blatantly obvious that further movement will eventually occur. Speculation about possible 14-or 16-team “super-conferences” has college football fans hoping their programs will benefit from the massive changes and not be left out...

Is Kirk Ferentz the most overrated coach in college football? Pt. 2

The first part of this Iowa news series received such a warm reception by Hawkeye Nation, hopefully part two promises more of the same. Apparently, Hawkeye football in Iowa is more popular than corn subsidies. Iowans from Sioux City to Waterloo either left comments or shot-off emails, sticking up for their head coach, with some using a few choice words to do so.  Nonetheless, I would not expect any different from any true college football fan in coming to the aid and defense of their...

Dorsey goes Kimbo Slice on his ex-girlfriend

On Tuesday night after a lover’s quarrel, Texas A&M DL Adren Dorsey was arrested for assaulting his ex girlfriend outside the student rec center. According to the university police report, the Kimbo Slice look-a-like put his hands around his ex-girlfriend’s neck, lifted her to the ground, and then slammed her onto the trunk of his car. In Dorsey’s defense, the ex placed her hand in his face first and pushed him away which instigated the beat down. As a result,...
