Notre Dame is Paying Heavily for Charlie Weis

Notre Dame fired head coach Charlie Weis on November 30, 2009 after five turbulent seasons.  Upon termination, Weis received $6,638,403 to serve as severance payment for his 10-year contract extension that he signed back in 2005.  According to tax returns obtained by the Chicago Tribune, Weis received an additional $2,054,744 of buyout money from Notre Dame to cover the period of July 2010 to June 2011.  To date, Notre Dame has paid Weis $8,693,147 and it doesn’t stop here. ...

A black eye in South Bend

At this point, details are still sketchy but word is coming out of South Bend that our golden boy Jimmy Clausen was in an altercation outside C.J.’s Pub late Saturday night after the double overtime loss to UConn. Sources are saying that the heralded QB took a punch to the face which left a black eye. The school has yet to reveal any other details of the incident, but The Matador will be following through and providing updates.

For the good news, Irish fans will be getting a treat this Saturday as star WR Michael Floyd is making his long awaited return as he has been cleared to play against Navy this weekend. South Bend to lose the Hall

It looks like an historical landmark is going to pull away from South Bend, Indiana in the coming years. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the College Football Hall of Fame is leaving the graces of South Bend and will find a new home in downtown Atlanta. Originally, it was anticipated that the Hall would attract at least 200,000 visitors per year. However, only a disappointing 65,000 would actually visit.
