Rich Brooks announced today that he will not return as Kentucky’s football coach next season. Brooks is stepping down after seven years as the team’s coach. Joker Phillips, the team’s offensive coordinator, will replace Brooks. Phillips was named the team’s coach in waiting two season ago. Brooks compiled a 39-47 record with Kentucky and recently led them the four straight bowl games. He will go down in UK history as one of their better coaches and he’s left the program...

It is clear the times are changing. Yesterday, Kentucky’s head coach Rich Brooks went through a serious surgical procedure to remove skin cancer from his lower leg. Rather than having the AD or the University release an official statement, Brooks decided to inform the world in an unconventional way, through a tweet: Had a skin cancer cut out of my lower leg.
