OSU fans in Florida can say good-bye to the trademark Jim Tressel sweater vest

The Fort Myers Miracle, a Class A affiliation of the Minnesota Twins, recognizes the impact Ohio State’s Jim Tressel left behind amidst serious NCAA violations looming over the Buckeye nation. So much so, the minor league baseball team announced a unique promotional night to temper the havoc caused by Tressel who surprisingly submitted his letter of resignation yesterday. The Miracle will have a “Rest the Vest” night at Hammond Stadium this Monday when the team hosts the Jupiter Hammerheads.

All fans are encouraged to dig into the their closets and bring their sweater vests to the game. For the OSU faithful perched in Fort Myers, you can say goodbye to your beloved coach by depositing your sweater vest into one of the retirement bins that will be placed at the front gates of the stadium. In Jim Tressel fashion, every fan who makes a deposit will have the opportunity to test drive a sports car from Classic Cars of Florida.

For the fans that do not have sweater vests, no need to worry. To pay homage to Terrelle Pryor, the Miracle will give away a piece of team memorabilia to any fan who presents their tattoo at the game.

Not sure what the relationship is between the Miracle and Ohio State, but it is always great to see some good old-fashioned PR for a baseball team that is in a tight race for first place in the FSL South. You’ve got to love the spirit of minor league baseball.
