New PSU apparel takes aim at Tressel.

The Family Clothesline on East College Avenue in State College, PA, is taking a jab at Ohio State’s Jim Tressel. Upon Tressel receiving national attention for his lack of veracity regarding the Ohio State five, the Family Clothesline wanted to cash-in with the release of a new t-shirt aimed at Tressel.

The retail store designed a t-shirt that showcased Joe Paterno as a “Legends” and Jim Tressel as a “Liars.” The t-shirt features a picture of JoePa’s trademark Coke-bottle glasses underneath the word “Legends” (on the front) and a picture of Tressel’s outdated red-sweater vest underneath the word “Liars” (on the back).

Since sales began, the t-shirt has become increasingly popular with the Penn State faithful. So if you are a proud Penn State fan or dislike Ohio State, for approximately $12.99, you can wear your spirit with pride.

One minor issue with the design is that “Legends” and “Liars,” which obviously pays tribute to the Big 10’s new and often scoffed at divisional names, is inaccurate. JoePa’s Nittany Lions are in the “Leaders” division, not “Legends.” The t-shirt would have been more accurate, without devaluing the message, if “Leaders” was replaced with “Legends.”
