Washington loses Locker for Oregon

Add one more blow to list of Washington’s (3-5) dull season. The Huskies will face #1 Oregon without the services of starting QB Jake Locker. Locker, who has been one of the year’s biggest disappointments, suffered a fractured rib last Saturday against Stanford after taking several brutal hits in the game. The Huskies’ QB had been bothered by cartilage damage to the same rib since playing Oregon State, but continued playing through the injury. “It was something that was checked out and making sure nothing changed...

OSU’s James Rodgers out for the Season?

James Rodgers (#8) was having a stellar game against Arizona until he went down hard on his left leg leaving his season in jeopardy. Oregon State may have walked out of Tucson, Arizona a winner (29-27), but it came at a costly price. The Beaver’s versatile and elusive senior WR James Rodgers significantly injured his left leg after hauling in a 56 yard TD pass that was ultimately nullified due to an OSU penalty. Rodgers, who was hit by...

Pelini’s Peso Worth Every Dollar

Without a doubt, Nebraska boasts the best defense in college football and the man responsible is Carl Pelini. Not to take anything away from QB Taylor Martinez and the Cornhuskers’ explosive ground game, but it’s Carl Pelini’s ingenious defensive schemes that is responsible for a 5-0 start. On Thursday, Nebraska opened Big XII play in dominating fashion, limiting Kansas State’s Heisman hopeful RB Daniel Thomas to just 63 yards on 22 carries, well below his 157 yards/game average. Currently,...

Another Montana steals the show

Earlier in the spring season we reported on the success of Nate Montana’s spring game in South Bend. Now it looks like another Montana is shining but over on the west coast.  The Huskies’ nation got their first glimpse of Nick Montana during Washington’s annual Spring Game last night. Over 15,000 Huskies fans stood in the wind and rain to watch the son of Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana lead the Purple (No. 2 offense and No ....

Locker is a Huskies lock

Christmas came early for Washington Huskies fans as it has just been reported that QB Jake Locker will be returning for one more season under center. Locker has been a Huskies staple since 2006 and refuses to go away. Since he has one more year of eligibility, he is going to take it and take his team to the promised land. Coach Steve Sarkisian couldn’t be more thrilled. His star QB threw for 2,800 yards under the Sarkisian pro-style...

The Huskies WIN

The Matador is cracking open a Strongbow regaling on something Washington has not done since Nov. 17, 2007 when the Huskies faced California–WIN A GAME. The Huskies had the unfortunate privilege of holding the nations longest D-1 losing streak at 15 games. The streak came to a screeching halt today at the hands of Idaho 42-23. QB Jake Locker came into this game with one thing in mind, WIN. Also to note, Coach Steve Sarkisian got his first win...
