Is anyone at the Independence Bowl?

Bowl games are not as profitable or as popular as one would think. Take a look at the attendance for today’s 2011 Advocare V100 Independence Bowl featuring two 7-5 teams in the Missouri Tigers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. As the picture clearly indicates, Independence Stadium is nowhere near the 49,147 capacity level. Air Force schooled Georgia Tech in old-fashioned style football beating the Yellow Jackets 14-7 in the Advocare 100 Independence Bowl. The Falcons ran the option to perfection much to the delight of the Shreveport faithful. Falcons QB Tim Jefferson handed the ball off to six different backs for a combined 170 yards. The Armed Forces Bowl has reached an agreement with Army that will pave the way for the Black Knights to play in the bowl game next season. Currently the Armed Forces Bowl has a contractual obligation to pick between Conference USA and Mountain West Conference teams that are bowl eligible at the end of the season.
