Bowl games are not as profitable or as popular as one would think. Take a look at the attendance for today’s 2011 Advocare V100 Independence Bowl featuring two 7-5 teams in the Missouri Tigers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. As the picture clearly indicates, Independence Stadium is nowhere near the 49,147 capacity level. This is not a knock on Missouri or North Carolina or even on Shreveport, LA, it’s more of a commentary on the need to reduce the amount of bowl games.
Final attendance numbers have not been tallied, but will be reported prior to the end of the game.
