The Alabama athletic department recently distributed the BCS National Championship rings to commemorate the 2012 national champion football team. The rings, which highlight the 42-14 smearing of Notre Dame are topped with three footballs presumably to represent the three national championships in the past four years. It’s not too often a Columbia University football player makes the news, but when he does, it’s usually not good.  On Tuesday, defensive lineman Chad Washington (19) was charged with second degree aggravated harassment, a hate crime, for allegedly assaulting another student and taunting him with racial slurs.
