A frustrated WR asked to be released from his football athletic scholarship. Delmon Robinson (So. 5’11 181 lbs.) was projected to have a limited role in the Bulldogs’ offense this season. Mississippi State is loaded at the WR position and Robinson didn’t think he would have much opportunity for playing time. Robinson asked for his release which was granted.
Coach Dan Mullen didn’t comment on the departure but did state, “we’re a little more stable at the safety position than we are at the wide receiver position.” That may be true, but there are several WRs on the Bulldogs’ depth-chart who will make an immediate impact.
As a true freshman last season, Robinson finished with 12 catches for 125 yards. He was also clocked running a 4.4 forty. If he elects to transfer to another D-1 program, he would have to sit out a year.
