QB Aaron Corp’s future continues to be filled with uncertainty. The once named starter for SC back in 2009, transferred to Richmond during the off-season after being dethroned by current Trojan QB Matt Barkley. In 2010, Corp joined FCS Richmond and first-year coach Latrell Scott with the hopes of rebuilding a Spiders program that lost several key players from last year’s stellar 11-2 squad.
Unfortunately, Corp’s modest start came to a sudden halt on Saturday after he suffered a season ending knee injury during the first series in a 17-0 loss to New Hampshire. The injury occurred after Corp threw an interception on the fifth play of the game to UNH safety John Greer who returned the INT for a 40 yard TD. After Corp dropped back, a Spider’s offensive lineman rolled over Corp’s knee causing the injury. The school did not comment as to the seriousness of the injury, but did say his 2010 season is finished.
The Parade All-American is scheduled for surgery this Thursday with every intention of returning back to the team next season. In the meantime, Richmond continues to deal with more injuries and an enormous problem at the QB position. The team is down to two quarterbacks: third-string QB/Punter Will Hicks and true freshman Montel White. Richmond is currently 2-3 and faces Massachusetts this Saturday for homecoming weekend.
