West Virginia has a high standard for academic excellence and will not fudge numbers regardless of the talent level. D.C. native and 4 star recruit WR Deon Long (6’0, 180 lbs.) signed with West Virginia this past February. However, he will not attend this season’s preseason camp due to his grades not satisfying the NCAA’s freshman eligibility requirement.
To improve on his academics, Long will enroll at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. Once his grades satisfy the NCAA’s requirements, Long will enroll back to WVU.
Long, from Dunbar High School, is known for his quickness and his ability to catch any ball thrown his way. He was recruited by several top D-1 programs to include Duke, Illinois, Maryland, and Michigan State.
Fortunately for WVU, they are very deep in WRs with Alric Arnett, Bradley Starks, Wes Lyons, and Gino Crump. As for Long, he will be a future star for the Mountaineers.
